HOW DOES IT WORK?

INDIGEO VOLO events are entirely volunteer-run.

From the Board of Directors to the equipment handlers, the Dungeon Monitors, and even the person in charge of the food, it’s all organized and orchestrated by kinksters who have volunteered their time and talent. Anyone who volunteers to help with set-up, teardown, bartending, cleaning, or coat check will gain free admission to the current party (setup only) OR a free ticket for our next party!

ONE SHIFT = ONE TICKET.

For future INDIGEO VOLO dungeon events (February 2022-onward), there will be a ‘Volunteer’ option available when you purchase the ticket that will allow you to ‘spend’ any tickets you’ve earned. Tickets may be gifted or transferred; after you have submitted your order, please contact us with your guests’ names and email, and we will be happy to send them their tickets.

INDIGEO VOLO provides a variety of volunteering opportunities. Depending on the venue and length of the party, not every position will be available for every event.

HEAVY LIFTING REQUIRED

We need about five volunteers for efficient setup and tear down. However, we’re not going to turn anyone away if there are more helping hands. We’ll find ways to put you to use.

To help set up, you must be able to:

  • Carry equipment from the transport vehicle and up twelve well-maintained stairs into the event space;
  • Help arrange and put together the equipment on the play floor.

All of this is supervised by experienced volunteers, so if it’s your first time, or you have no idea how the equipment gets set up, no problem! They will be happy to explain the process and ensure you have the tools and knowledge needed to work safely.

Set-up for the parties happens on the day of the event. Depending on the type of event the time may vary, so please check with our Volunteer Co-Ordinator. The duration of the set-up is usually about one hour.

Teardown starts at the end of the party around 1:00 AM. This includes dismantling the equipment and taking it down the stairs and into the transport vehicle.

GET CHECKED OUT

Taking tickets and checking in coats and checking out people. We’re kidding! Well, mostly! But it is a great way to socialize and get to know the community while getting free entry into the party.

Responsibilities can include:

  • Greeting our guests and helping them find their way into the venue;
  • Checking in and retrieving coats (and depending on the venue, bags);
  • Checking tickets and sending guests to the next stage
  • Handing out signalling wristbands.

SIMPLE SERVICE

With our change in venue, INDIGEO VOLO is now responsible for providing the appropriately licensed servers. That includes anyone who has their SERVING IT RIGHT course or the SPECIAL EVENT SERVER course.

For the time being, we’ve chosen to offer a simple selection of beer, wine, and ciders. You will be responsible for:

  • Serving their drink of choice;
  • Collecting payment via SQUARE;
  • Following the requirements and mandates with your certification.

SAFE AND SANITIZED.

INDIGEO VOLO also wants to ensure that our events do not cause any inconvenience to our venue. We are responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the event space and there are several responsibilities our cleaning volunteer will be tasked with. These may include:

  • Wiping down tables and chairs with a clean rag and the appropriate cleanser;
  • Sweeping the event floor space for dirt and debris;
  • Gathering and disposing of discarded cups, plates, and utensils.

The venue provides all of the necessary cleaning supplies, and a Director will walk you through the process; it’s very much what you would expect when tidying up after a party! It’s not glamourous, but it’s an essential and very much appreciated position.

PLEASE arrive on time! If something comes up, or life gets in the way and you can’t make it, we get it! We just ask that you please let our Volunteer Co-Ordinator know in advance. You can easily cancel your shift via the SignUp system. INDIGEO VOLO relies on our volunteers to help make the absolute best possible event experience for the Victoria kink community.

When volunteering, you are by no means restricted to that space. We will check in with you once and a while; however, there are only a few of us and many things to attend to during the evening. If you need to use the restroom, or grab a drink, go ahead! If you are feeling uncomfortable, there are resources available to help you. If you feel uncomfortable (with a guest, another volunteer, anything!), or are unsure of what to do in a situation, please let an INDIGEO VOLO Director know, and we will do our best to help.

All INDIGEO VOLO volunteers must agree to abide by our Code of Conduct.
