ADULT ALTERNATIVE SOCIETY
Today, April 2nd, marks World Autism Awareness Day. INDIGEO VOLO would like to take a few moments to both highlight the unique and broad range of neuro-divergence within our community, and touch on the difficulties people on the spectrum can face.
In an ever-changing world with an endless amount of seemingly unspoken social rules, knowledge and societal norms, people on the spectrum often encounter difficulties and obstacles which may not seem obvious, or even apparent to those around them. As the strengths that individuals on the spectrum possess are as varied as the colour spectrum itself, so often they bring a fresh perspective and help us to see the things often ignore or unnoticed, and we do not wish to make the risk of generalizing or stereotyping an already often mis-spoken for community.
In an already marginalized society, the kink community, INDIGEO VOLO knows that it’s imperative that we not only make neuro-divergent individuals feel welcome, but that we work to include them at our events; we even have some serving on our Board of Directors! Sharing in the kink community spirit and bringing together to weave the threads of our society would not be nearly as bright, invigorating, or enjoyable without people of all propensities and proclivities.
“I want to put myself absolutely at your mercy for good or evil without any condition, without any limit to your power.”
“In adopting a patently false but stubbornly clung-to mythology of human sexuality that makes demons out of natural drives, we’ve entered a stage of moral sickness, not of moral health.”
“For us, when our sexual lifestyle is essential to our sense of identity, anybody who doesn't know about our kink doesn't really know us.”
“And painful pleasure turns into pleasing pain.”
“When you think night and day and every moment only of pleasing me, things will be very easy for you.”
“The number one job of the dominant is to continually seduce consent from the bottom.”
“That's what's so ironic about the conservative backlash against BDSMers. With increased visibility comes increased bigotry, and conservatives continue to rally against kinky events by local groups to get them shut down. What the anti-kink fanatics don't understand about us is that we're geeks. Sex nerds. SM intellectuals. We pay money to spend a weekend going to classes.”
“In the early years, it was my fear that drove my need to understand. i did not want to be destroyed. In fact i wanted to be created.”
“My mission now is to shed every shame, guilt, judgment, or embarrassment about my or anyone's sexuality ... I did my trial by fire, and came out the other side tattered, but clear in my identity.”
“Masochism is an unforgettable reminder of the spiritual fact that every experience, even pain or suffering, can be enjoyed.”
